The University of Padua and the Center for Neurodegenerative Disease Research (CESNE) is honored to present the first edition of the International Winter School in Neurodegeneration, scheduled from January 17th to January 20th 2023.

AIMS OF THE WINTERSCHOOL
Knowledge: Neurodegenerative diseases are complex clinico-pathological conditions characterized by progressive loss of neurons in the central and peripheral nervous system. Recent research has greatly improved our understanding of neurodegenerative diseases, but despite numerous efforts, treatment opportunities are limited.
Skills: The participants will acquire state of the art knowledge concerning neurodegenerative diseases, ranging from their molecular underpinnings to experimental treatment options, while also having the possibility to apply the acquired theoretical concepts through practical laboratories organized by the Departments of Neuroscience and Biology.
Competences: The frontal lectures held by world renowned experts on neurodegeneration will allow participants to acquire updated and state-of-the-art knowledge of the principles and recent advancements in the field of neurodegeneration. Brain dissections and neuroanatomy laboratories will allow participants to acquire hands-on experience in human brain sampling and evaluation for neuropathology. Microscopy and animal model laboratories will allow participants to translate theoretical knowledge to the experimental setting.
Contents: frontal theoretical lectures; hands-on brain examination and dissection; optical and fluorescent microscopy; introduction to animal models in neurodegeneration with practical experiments.
The University of Padua and the Center for Neurodegenerative Disease Research (CESNE) is honored to present the first edition of the International Winter School in Neurodegeneration, scheduled from January 17th to January 20th 2023. The winter school will allow students, PhDs and Researchers of every field of neuroscience to acquire knowledge on neurodegenerative diseases and updates on the most recent advancements in the field, while also allowing for practical hands-on experiences in the lab. A multi-disciplinary approach, suitable to various backgrounds, will allow an easy yet rigorous approach to the field. International Faculty Members (Proff. Angela Cenci, Patrick Brundin, Tiago Outiero, Sabine Hilfiker, Teresa Niccoli, Gennaro Pagano, Maria Ankarcona, Donato di Monte and Andrea Vettori) introduce participants to the principles of neurodegeneration and provide most recent updates on research in the field, while local CESNE Members and University of Padova Faculty will present the research carried out in their laboratories and coordinate the pratical activities.
Together we will provide you with a global view of neurodegeneration, its molecular and neuropathological underpinnings, and their translation into the clinical and experimental setting.
WHO MAY BE INTERESTED IN ATTENDING THE WINTER SCHOOL?
The Winter School is open to all master-degree students, PhDs and Post-Doctoral Researchers who are interested in neurodegenerative diseases, regardless of academic and study background. Participants will be asked to perform a 2-Minute Flash Presentation at the beginning of the Winter School to present their background and interest.
CME (Continous Medical Education) credits will not be provided for this winter school.
LANGUAGE
English is the official language of the Winter School.
